So Smoke em, while you can
We’re all dying slowly anyway man

————————————-

The creative juices were certainly flowing back in early 2008. Despite the chaos of my life, I was writing songs left and right. Here‘s another video I put up on YouTube that same day I did Good Boy. It’s called Smoke Em While you Can and it also appears (in a much different form) on my album The Brian Show.

This song has perhaps the most challenging lyrics of any song I’ve put out publicly and during the video, I’m “smoking the Chinese cigarettes” that I’d been saving since my last trip to China in 1996. Oh MAN! did they taste bad! I’ve never been much of a smoker (there’s a story about that of course) but in honor of the song title, I decided to break out the twelve-year-old pack of smokes that were no doubt bad enough when they were new.

The things we do for art eh?

Anyway I was also using video filters that came with some freeware I’d found. Boy would I like to still have this one. I really like the sketchy quality and have yet to see one quite like it. Even among all the fancy ones available in today’s world of way cool phone video filters.

And like the video for Good Boy… in Smoke Em I’m using two cameras. That way I could have two angles at the same time. I edited them together pretty crudely but I thought it would be more interesting that way.

Video editing for amateurs and hobbyists like me, has changed dramatically since 2008. I have dreams of one day spending more time using the no doubt even way cooler tools that will be available when I feel it’s time to spend some time…

When ever that may be.

For now, I’m so very happy to be spending the time I am making to do…

This…

This will of course…

Be continued…
