Monday morning birds are singing
still that warning bell keeps ringing in my ears
Much to do no time for dreading
filter through the garbage spreading only fear

The numbers rise to no surprise
and all the fools on tv cry as if on cue
Amidst the lies I check your eyes
and hope that I can safely be myself with you

l wash my hands
don’t stand so close to me
you just touched your face
I’ll find another place to be

And I’ll wash my hands

Every day my trust is breaking
nothing left from people taking all they can
Quarantine my heart from sorrow
live as if there’s no tomorrow, understand

More confusion, more in store
and no one has an answer, they may never do
A mask, a glove, the guarded door
can’t find a better way to disinfect the truth

l wash my hands
don’t stand so close to me
you just touched your face
maybe try another way to be

Then I’ll wash my hands

You won’t see the toll on me
to carry on as if I can just take it home
To rise above, only my love
she’s all I need to heal and never feel alone

So I wash my hands
someday she’ll stand with me
we will find our way
and make a better day, you’ll see

So please wash your hands
don’t stand so close to me
Don’t touch your face
till you find another way to be

But I wash my hands

I wash my hands
I wash my hands

——

Blessed…
