Sixteen years ago
and then some
Oahu’s north shore
A Brazilian restaurant that no longer exists
a tent village behind the restaurant
where surfers could still live
the old-school surfer life
they built a small community
and spent most of their time on the beach
It was here where I made my first attempts
at promoting my music
and where I met a dear, forever friend
I also made friends with someone
not long for this world
his image still exists in at least other place though
I no longer know that is
and although his “one tree” is no longer there
the tree where he and his friends would sit all day
selling their wares
the sun still sets
on Sunset Beach
a special place I recently was happy to share with my sweetheart
