well now i’ve finally landed
stopped and set down my gear
and god only knew
i’d go and wind up here
and it seems that on occasion
all i’ve got left is some words and rhyme
so my friends why not take a moment
come up and see me sometime

i can’t sing and dance or play the fool
as i did not so long ago
but if you like good conversation
i’ll share the best i know
so as long as this life will give me
and you don’t seem to mind

there’s no place left to run
for when my broken body leaves this world
