built on brutality and greed
led by week-minded men
a would-be aristocracy
with delusions of grandeur

they ravaged paradise
like acquisitive demon children
who pilfered a nubile playground
stolen from the ancients

and now
these baby-brained barbarians
are tasked with finding a direction
a path out of the pit

there will be no second chance
no do overs
they must grow a mature spine
