go find the people
who make you smile
it’s easy if you try

they may be a close friend
someone you see nearly every day
or a stranger
who might never otherwise catch your eye

smiles are infectious
as nearly everyone knows
or should
but when the evils of this world overwhelm us
and we retreat to an inner life that only serves to dispel us
it’s not good

so go find those smiles
they might be right next door
or halfway round the globe

you might just find
one to soothe your mind
like nothing else you know
