it’s like a dream
with eyes that look right through me
from behind the silver screen
or so it seems

i look around
to see i’m not alone in this illusion
a thousand hopes and dreams are found
all focus on just one single vision
as if it’s real

and then it breaks to reveal
the fantasy
the fake
the crime for which we all miss take
for something true

you see it now, can’t you
that power behind the curtain
that takes us all the way down
to a place where nothing’s certain

don’t look away
peel back that last layer between us
yes it’s hard to imagine
and even harder
to trust
