The Life of Brian (In the Now)

I love to journal by telling stories. What’s going on in the life of Brian, in the now. Whether it be from stuff that happens at work, while hanging out with friends or while working on other creative projects. Stuff happens that I may just feel a need to interrupt my usual memoir-writing activity, that is this blog’s primary function. I share those stories here.

11/26/18: Coolness Collage

Today I put the new song to music. It sounds good but I'll have to live with it and bang it around for a while before I know for sure. Yesterday I had breakfast with my sister, my mother and my sweetheart. I love these people so much. More and more every day. Last week [...]

11/21/18: What’s Cookin’

Yesterday while scanning Facebook, I saw an obviously disgruntled "friend" declare with disgust that... "Facebook sucks, I'm outta here." This makes me sad. 11/19/18: The Marketplace of Desire

"If I find in myself a desire which no experience in this world can satisfy, the most probable explanation is that I was made for another world." ------C. S. Lewis ---------------------------------------------- Yes, Mr. Lewis, but even if I was made for another world, I must live in this one. In this world, I desire love, [...]

11/18/18: This Morning

This morning, I'm reminded. This morning, I'm redoing... Only everything. ---------------------------------------- Yesterday... was Huge! Yet, this morning I'm reminded that there is hugeness to be seen and experienced everyday, in every moment. The fact that there was so much going on yesterday, is only a reflection of the "only everything"ness of what I was allowed [...]

11/16/18: The Best Morning Yet

I heard there was a secret chord That David played and it please the lord But you don't really care for music, do ya? --- Leonard Cohen ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Yesterday I had a nice conversation with a friend. We spoke of many things that matter, things we don't always share. We shared our love of life, [...]

9/1/18: Naked Day

When you think you're gonna die yesterday, today is sweet. ------ Harris Yulin as Buddy Dyker in season 2 episode 5 of the Netfiz original series Ozark ---------------------------------------------------- I love my life. I love my friends. I love my sweetheart. Everything is sweet today. Looking back, everything could have gone to shit a few days ago (not [...]

8/30/18: New Verse to an Old Song

Up ahead I saw the future A stretch of barren beach I knew that I was headed nowhere The horizon out of reach So I turned and headed back I was present in my past Now and then mere twin directions The next intersecting the last ------ Loudon Wainwright III (Fresh Fossils 2001) ---------------------------------------------------- Walking [...]

8/28/18: Happiness Rules

"Do you have change sir?" "I'm sorry?" "I have two dollars." "Yes, but with the extra passenger, it's four dollars." "I know, I have twenty dollar bill." "Ok, please step on the lift sir.
